    Socialtext goes virtual

Socialtext today announced the Socialtext Virtual Edition. With this release, Socialtext continues to lead the industry in providing customers the most flexible options for deploying wikis to enable online collaboration and knowledge sharing. Geared for developers and customers interested in quickly evaluating Socialtext on their own site using their own hardware, the Virtual Edition is a VMware image of the Socialtext open-source software. The virtualized approach to deploying applications gives customers greater convenience and flexibility than the traditional approach of building a hardware platform, integrating operating system and application components, and then tuning the whole solution to work well together.

With only an existing copy of VMware required, Socialtext Virtual is pre-configured so deployment can be done in minutes without requiring significant technical resources. Although it is not geared for large-scale production deployment, Socialtext Virtual provides a turnkey wiki solution for on-site customer demonstrations, proof-of-concept projects or technical evaluations. Available immediately, Socialtext Virtual is available for free download. “(more)Download now”:http://www.socialtext.net/stoss/index.cgi?socialtext_demo_vmware_image_installation
