  • Wired.com goes live!

Today, Socialtext’s customer Wired.com, launched its ‘How To Wiki’ site, a collaborative web destination dedicated to the Web 2.0, do-it-yourself culture. On the ‘How To Wiki’ site, web surfers can find all kinds of useful information on computer hacks, public projects, plus advice on how to live, work and play better (and smarter).

One example spotlighted on the site today is for fans of the ‘Guitar Hero’ video game. To get the collaboration started, tips and tricks are provided by Wired.com editorial staff for how to master the game and become a virtual rock star. Readers can easily add their own comments and edit the post to share their own ideas with others.

What’s so exciting about the Wired.com ‘How To Wiki’ site is that it’s quickly becoming another large, public example of Socialtext wikis in action. With tens of thousands (or even millions) of users expected to use the site, a lot of work went into making the solution scalable. Socialtext also worked extensively with Wired.com to customize the web interface to meet Wired’s precise requirements. Of course, the site not only needs to look cool and effectively represent the Wired.com brand, but it also needs to be easy-to-use to drive adoption and facilitate collaboration with the Wired.com and Internet community at large.

Check out the site! Visit the Wired.com wiki, powered by Socialtext.
