Socialtext invites you to attend an evening with the The Software Collection Committee (SCC) of the Computer History Museum. Currently the museum is exploring how to collect software in support of the museum’s mission.

The work of the SCC includes:

• Preserving and collecting software
• Identifying and working with other people preserving and collecting software
• Sponsoring and assisting software preservation and collection activity

Bernard Peuto and Paul McJonesof the SCC will give a brief presentation on the SCC and solicit input from the wiki community on how wikis can be used to support this work and the overall mission of the Computer History Museum.

The event will be held at Sociatext offices:

Jeremy Ruston, creator of Tiddlywiki a reusable non-linear personal noteboook, will be our guest speaker at Wiki Wednesday. Socialtext co-founders Adina Levin, VP Products and Peter Kaminski, CTO and Ross Mayfield, CEO will be talking about Socialtext Open! The whole world is waiting, okay maybe not everyone in the US, but most of Europe and the rest of the world is counting down the days to the first World Cup Game in 4 years.

Opening day brings the opening of a new stadium, the Olympiastadion. The original Olympic Stadium in Berlin was carefully reconstructed and updated to hold VIP and Sky executive boxes, Business Seats, a Hertha BSC megastore, underground warm-up facility and an underground car park. The main goal of the renovation was to make the stadium more comfortable. With 74,200 seats now covered, versus only 27,000 seats previously protected from the elements. Price tag for the make-over, a cool 242 million Euro.

The stadium was originally designed by architect Werner March and built between 1934-36 for around 42 million Reichsmark.

The first match is on Friday between Germany (they get to be in the first game for hosting) and Costa Rica.
