At Acumen Fund, we are using Socialtext to help manage a growing social venture capital fund with offices in India, Pakistan, Kenya and New York. The wiki allows us to effectively source, diligence and execute deals, while at the same time learning from our successes and mistakes. Socialtext enables us to more effectively build transformative businesses that solve the problems of poverty and capture knowledge that we share with the development and business communities.
Socialtext has transformed the way that I teach and learn. Student grades have increased, students share with one another, we collaboratively build content, and the durable online repository for prior work continues to raise the bar on what students reach for in their work. I'll never teach again unless the class has a wiki. And I look forward to leveraging new social networking and dashboard features in upcoming classes. Thanks Socialtext!
Emergent Solutions is a global leadership and strategy consultancy with a professional guild of over 65 coaches and consultants located around the world. Our company was founded on and believes deeply in our core values of Sustainability, Innovation, Inclusion & Intimacy and Mutual Exchange. Before Socialtext, we used a combination of email and a SharePoint based intranet to communicate; however, as we experienced rapid growth, these tools became ineffective for finding and sharing information and keeping our people engaged. Socialtext allows us the transparency to easily create and share our IP collaboratively, and a place for us to innovate and engage with our growing community of guild members, clients and staff. Project communications used to be a logistical nightmare, but Socialtext has provided us with a rich project management platform that keeps us organized and informed in an effective and efficient way so that we can remain internally “lean” and stay true our value of developing a sustainable and profitable business.
We run all our projects on Socialtext. It enables my company to not only release more CDs per year, but execute without things slipping through the cracks. Thanks to Socialtext, we're collaborating better than ever and 3.0 promises to make the experience even more fluid, and fun.
At ‘mktg’ we're using Socialtext to improve the process we use for winning new business. For each potential customer, the account team needs to create a tailored bid presentation and each Account Manager had various versions of their own presentation stored locally on their computer. This made it difficult for them to collaborate on content creation, and next to impossible to guarantee consistency of our message. With Socialtext, all the information for each proposal presentation is stored centrally in a shared workspace. Now our team does their work on wiki pages. They collaborate easily, re-use good work, and build on each other’s best practices. Additionally, Socialtext People also makes it easy for us to locate the employees with the right skills or experience for every situation. Before Socialtext, we never knew whether someone on our staff had special experience relevant to a new client situation that could make the bid proposal better. Now we're operating faster, making better decisions, and leveraging the collective knowledge of everyone. This is knowledge management done right, meaning without the policing or red tape. We can now get people to share knowledge and build off of each other. This greater level of awareness has enabled us to respond to proposal requests faster and with greater quality. We’re winning more business and creating more happy, loyal customers.
Socialtext Workspace helps us eliminate some of the barriers to knowledge creation and sharing. In addition, the easy-to-use REST API has allowed us to integrate data from several different repositories into the wiki, providing a one stop shop for important technical information about our product line.
Working on projects with Socialtext is like constantly sitting around a conference room table together. Our researchers are easily involved in the conversation, both learning and contributing, as opposed to the confusing "busy-ness" created by exchange of multiple interrupting emails. Working collaboratively via wiki pages is such a pleasure versus trying to track changes in a word processing document. We've been amazed at how quickly our group was able to start using it, and how it has improved our process.
The Society for New Communications Research Fellows have been using the "SNCR Wiki" provided by Socialtext since the Society's inception to collaborate on research studies and other Society initiatives. In addition, we offer a wiki version of our _Journal of New Communications Research_to allow authors and subscribers to engage in discussion, debate research paper updates, etc. Socialtext 3.0 will enable SNCR to foster an even greater level of online collaboration, networking, discussion, relationship-building and knowledge-sharing between the Society's Fellows and our members, and we look forward to continuing to use Socialtext as one of the foundational tools for our organization.
Socialtext’s intuitive and simple user interface has allowed Swinerton to realize the value of a corporate wiki within a short timeframe. This was greatly increased the sharing of information, thereby increasing the productivity and effectiveness of our distributed IT support staff."
