Socialtext Delivers Enterprise Microblogging and People Search from within Microsoft SharePoint

New improvements to SocialPoint, which connects Socialtext's enterprise social software platform to Microsoft SharePoint.

Socialtext announced today a major upgrade to SocialPoint, its connector that enables customers to integrate its enterprise social software platform with Microsoft SharePoint. This new release of SocialPoint helps customers take advantage of the real-time messaging and people profiles of Socialtext when they are working in SharePoint.

The SocialPoint upgrade, which will work in both SharePoint 2010 and 2007, includes:

• Enterprise microblogging in SharePoint -- Socialtext customers count on Socialtext Signals, a secure enterprise microblogging application, as a way to keep colleagues and teams highly synchronized by sharing short messages about projects and strategy. Now, people can post and view Socialtext Signals from right inside SharePoint.
• Search the people directory from within SharePoint -- Customers use Socialtext People as their social directory, with rich profiles that show a person's photo, skills, and latest activities, in addition to contact information. Now, people can search their Socialtext People directory from right inside SharePoint.

Socialtext was the first enterprise social software company to integrate its platform with SharePoint, with the release of SocialPoint in 2006, which enables customers to use Socialtext online workspaces (wikis) from the SharePoint interface.
