Socialtext Positioned as a Visionary in Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace

Socialtext Recognized for its Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

September 1, 2011, Palo Alto, California

Socialtext, the leading enterprise social software provider, today announced that it was positioned as a Visionary in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workspace, 2011”, published by Nikos Drakos, et al, on August 25, 2011.

According to Gartner, "Visionaries in the market demonstrate a strong understanding of current and future market trends and directions, such as the importance of a flexible and transparent collaboration environment, as well as the value of mutual reinforcement between tools that encourage user contribution and tools that encourage bottom-up group and structure formation. Their products and product road maps display a tendency for innovation, especially in terms of architecture and lightweight integration, while their marketing and R&D efforts are often boosted by their alignment with the open-source ecosystem. The Visionaries in this market have not exhibited the scope of delivery of the Challengers or Leaders, but have demonstrated vision across a range of capabilities."

“We believe our position as a visionary is the result of our strong belief that enterprises can indeed achieve high levels of user adoption when social tools are placed 'in the flow of work'," says Eugene Lee, Socialtext’s CEO. “As the market matures, adoption and integration will be key requirements for successful enterprise social software deployments, and Socialtext has proven through its customers' success that it is well positioned for the next phase of the market."

Socialtext’s core strengths, functionality and broad range of capabilities, includes Socialtexts' vision, being one of the first vendors to position its products as a "social layer", and its integration, offering preintegration with SharePoint, with salesforce.com as well as rich integrations with other business applications.
