Pre-Built Connector for Microsoft SharePoint

SocialPoint integrates the Socialtext collaboration platform with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and 2007 in a way that gives you a unified experience and the best of both applications.

SocialPoint lets you take advantage of the real-time messaging and people profiles of Socialtext when you are working in SharePoint, and it alerts you to activities happening in SharePoint when you are working in Socialtext.

With SocialPoint, these SharePoint events are published to the Socialtext activity stream automatically:

  • A file is created, updated or deleted in SharePoint
  • A document is checked in or out of SharePoint
  • A document library is updated

Events generated from SharePoint will be accompanied by rich metadata, via Signals Annotations. The metadata includes file and library name, links, creation date, and file owner. This metadata adds context to the event, and makes it discoverable and searchable later.

SocialPoint also lets you:

  • Participate in Socialtext microblogging conversations while working in SharePoint. You can use the Socialtext Signals secure enterprise microblogging application from inside SharePoint. You can post and view Signals from right inside SharePoint, and continue to keep colleagues and teams highly synchronized.
  • Access your Socialtext directory from within SharePoint. Customers use Socialtext People as their directory, with rich profiles that show a person's photo, skills, and latest activities, in addition to contact information. You can search your Socialtext People directory from right inside SharePoint.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, no matter where the content is stored. You can access Socialtext workspace pages from within SharePoint, and you can link to files in the SharePoint repository from any Socialtext workspace page. You can also collaborate with colleagues on Socialtext workspace pages, then publish a final version as a Microsoft Word document in SharePoint.
